Bozeman, Mont. - Oct. 11, 2021-

The award-winning student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) at Montana State will host its sixth annual Marketing Week Oct. 11-15. The annual event provides students the opportunity to gain career insights by attending various activities throughout the week. Events this year include a sales panel, outbound sales competition, an e-commerce workshop, and an “Agency Crawl.” Students can even compete in a Cornhole competition. “This year’s marketing week I’m most excited for classes getting involved in the sales competition,” said Aliina Gregerson, a senior and Director of Marketing Week this year. “Whether you are interested in sales, digital marketing, working as a consultant, or just want to meet people and have fun, there’s something for everyone.”

Details and schedule of events include:

● Sales Panel: Monday, Oct. 11, 5-6 p.m., Jabs 111
Andrew Hull, MSU’s new sales professor, will begin the sales panel with a presentation on business-to-business sales. ● Outbound Sales Competition: Jabs 207, Tuesday, Oct. 12, 3:05-6:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, AMA hosts its annual Outbound Sales Competition. To compete, students are given a scenario about a prospective customer and make a 3-minute phone call with the goal of scheduling a meeting. Local sales professionals serve as a panel of judges, with the winning participant earning $500 toward their trip to Chicago for the annual AMA International Collegiate Conference in March.

● Digital Marketing: Jabs 111, Wednesday, Oct. 13, 5-6 p.m.
Wednesday, students are invited to learn more about digital marketing and its influence on marketing in today's society. Jake Cooke, president, and co-founder of Tadpull, a Bozeman-based digital marketing agency, will lead a hands-on workshop on e-commerce. Other employees of Tadpull, including former MSU students and members of AMA, will also lead the workshop.

● Cornhole: Field North of Jabs, Thursday, Oct. 14, 2 p.m.
On Thursday, students can compete in a Cornhole Tournament in the field north of Jabs Hall. Prizes for the winners include a $5 gift card, Jabs merchandise, and coupons to various stores around Bozeman.

● Agency Crawl: Meet in Jabs 9:45, Friday, October 15th, 10 am-3 pm.

To finish off the week, the annual “Agency Crawl” is where students get to tour four marketing agencies in Bozeman. Agencies to be visited include Hardy Brands, Massive, Mammoth, and Flying Horse. There is no requirement to visit all agencies. The tour of Hardy Brandy begins at 10 a.m., Massive’s tour begins at 11, Mammoth’s at 2 p.m., and Flying Horse at 3 p.m. Students are asked to stay home if feeling sick and are required to wear a mask inside each agency. “Marketing Week is fun, informational, and a great opportunity for all students to get involved with their community,” said Abby Elliot, Vice President of Programs for AMA. “Students not pursuing a business degree are always welcomed, there’s an activity for everyone interested in gaining more career insight and meeting new people.”

The American Marketing Association is the student lead chapter of the AMA at Montana State University. AMA’s mission is to prepare students for their professional careers through experiences that inspire students to cultivate strong networks, personal growth, and ethical leadership with a community-oriented focus.
