County Attorney Headlines Political Advertising Panel

Bozeman, Mont. - Sept. 23, 2024: The award-winning student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) at Montana State will host its ninth annual Marketing Week Oct. 7-11 highlighted by a Political Advertising Panel featuring Gallatin Valley County Attorney Audrey Cromwell. The annual event provides students the opportunity for professional development and gain career insights by participating inactivities throughout the week Including , an Outbound Sales Competition, Professional Workshop, Trivia Night and an Agency Crawl.

“I’m excited to hear from our District Attorney and hear what it’s like first hand to develop and implement an advertising strategy for a political campaign,” said Amber Kurth, a senior Marketing major and VP of Programs for the AMA. “And while the panel on political advertising will be great, whether you are interested in politics, web design, sales, or just want to meet more like-minded people and have fun, there’s something for everyone during Marketing Week.”

Details and schedule of events include:

Professional Workshop : Monday, Oct. 7, 5-6 p.m., Jabs Hall Room 111

  • This Professional workshop subject has not been decided, but it is going to be a workshop aimed at helping students work on professional development with the help of business professionals.

Trivia Night: Tuesday, Oct. 8, 5-6 p.m., Jabs Hall 111

  • AMA Trivia Night features a team format where answers to various trivia questions lead to points. The winning team will be awarded prizes. It's a great opportunity for new and current AMA members to meet people and make new friends.

Political Advertising Panel: Wednesday, Oct. 9, 5-6 p.m. Jabs Hall 111

  • Students are invited to hear from our experienced panel on the strategies that go into advertising during a political campaign. Gallatin Valley County Attorney Audrey Cromwell will be joined by Tonya Palazzi, Senior Sales Manager at ABC-Fox Montana, Tim Wagner, President of Plazby Solutions and former Director of Communications for Montana Senator Max Baccus, and Dr. Eric Van Steenburg, an Associate Professor of Marketing who researches political advertising. The panel will be moderated by Taylor Jones of the Bannack Group.

Outbound Sales Competition: Thursday, Oct. 10, 3-6 p.m. Jabs Hall , 

  • On Thursday, AMA hosts its annual Outbound Sales Competition . To compete, students are given a scenario about a prospective customer and make a 3-minute phone call with the goal of scheduling a meeting. Local sales professionals serve as a panel of judges, with the winning participant earning $500 toward their trip to New Orleans for the annual AMA International Collegiate Conference in March.

Agency Crawl: Meet at Jabs Hall Lobby at 9:45, Friday, October 11, 10am-3pm.

To finish off the week, the famous “Agency Crawl” takes place where students get to tour four marketing agencies in Bozeman. Agencies to be visited include, Massive Marketing, and Birch House Creative, and possibly Hardy Brands, Navitech or Prime Inc.. There is no requirement to visit all agencies. The tour of Massive Marketing begins at 10 a.m., Birch house Creative tour begins at 11, the last two tours will be determined within the coming weeks.

“Marketing Week is a fun, informational opportunity for students of all majors to improve there professional development through hands-on learning, competitions, and networking” said Aleisha Dutton, President of AMA. “You don’t have to be a marketing major or even a business major to take advantage of Marketing Week. All majors are always welcomed because there’s an activity for everyone interested in gaining more career insight and meeting new people.”

The American Marketing Association at Montana State is MSU’s student chapter of the AMA.
